  • COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD NOMINATION FORM

    The COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD recognizes Student Affairs employees who have served the external (off-campus) community in a significant manner in a volunteer effort during the past year of the nomination. Please specify Administrative Support Staff, Environmental Services Staff or Professional Staff category on your nomination form.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Provided significant service as an individual or as a member of a community service group OR
    • Provided long-term service to the Robeson County community as an individual or a member of community service organization(s).
  • BRIGHT IDEA NOMINATION FORM

    The BRIGHT IDEA AWARD recognizes the employees who have suggested an idea or procedure that, when implemented, resulted in improved operations in a department of Student Affairs. Please specify Administrative Support Staff, Environmental Services Staff or Professional Staff category on your nomination.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Submitted an idea that improved operations in a department, and/or
    • Submitted an idea that improved cost effectiveness in a department, and/or
    • Submitted an idea that improved a procedure that enhanced safety or convenience for a department, and/or
    • Submitted an idea that brought about a solution to a problem in a department.
  • ENERGIZER NOMINATION FORM

    The ENERGIZER AWARD recognizes employees who have helped energize and enhance staff spirit and morale. Please specify Administrative Support Staff, Environmental Services Staff and/or Professional Staff category on your nomination.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Demonstrated support for other staff in the department.
    • Promoted positive energy for self and others at work.
    • Promoted the involvement and engagement of others in their work.
  • JAMES B. CHAVIS NOMINATION FORM

    The JAMES B. CHAVIS AWARD recognizes an employee who exemplifies character, professionalism, and commitment to the mission of student affairs at UNCP. This award is named in honor of Dr. James B. Chavis who served as an administrator at UNC Pembroke for 35 years. During his tenure he served as director of the student union, financial aid officer, administrative assistant to President English Jones, director of admissions and registration and dean of student affairs. In 1977, he took a year’s leave of absence to serve as the state’s chief ombudsman for Governor Jim Hunt. Dr. Chavis returned to the university was named vice chancellor for student affairs in 1978. In recognition of his dedication to education the Board of Trustees named the University Center in his honor in 1987. Dr. Chavis believes that what matters most in this world is what we do for others.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Have been a permanent employee of Student Affairs for at least five years.
    • Demonstrated exceptional service to Student Affairs.
    • Is a passionate advocate for the welfare of all students.
  • NEW EMPLOYEE NOMINATION FORM

    The NEW EMPLOYEE AWARD is to be awarded to an employee who has demonstrated excellence in serving students and who has sustained superior work performance while exemplifying a positive attitude, initiative and a cooperative spirit. Please specify Administrative Support Staff, Environmental Services Staff and/or Professional Staff category on your nomination.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Been a permanent employee of Student Affairs two years or less, and
    • Demonstrated excellence in serving students, and
    • Demonstrated sustained superior work performance, and
    • Demonstrated a positive attitude, initiative and a cooperative spirit while working with others.
  • PROGRAM OF THE NOMINATION FORM

    The PROGRAM OF THE YEAR AWARD recognizes programs by an individual or team that have had a positive impact on the campus community. Employees working with a program they feel is exemplary are encouraged to complete a nomination form, although nominations are encouraged from others who are not directly involved. NOTE: The program may be defined as a singular event or a long-time activity.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Originated from at least one department within Student Affairs;
    • Submitted an idea that improved cost effectiveness in a department, and/or
    • Addressed a specific problem or issue, and
    • Made a positive impact on the campus community.
  • RESEARCH, PUBLICATIONS AND/OR GRANT AWARD NOMINATION FORM

    The RESEARCH, PUBLICATIONS AND/OR GRANT AWARD recognizes individuals or teams in Student Affairs who have conducted research, published articles, presented programs, or were awarded grants that increased knowledge about student life or student affairs.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Conducted research, or informal research;
    • Made significant contributions to professional publications; or
    • Created university publications and/or made significant contributions to campus publications; or
    • Presented program(s) which have had a significant educational impact; or
    • Was awarded a grant which has had a significant educational impact.
  • STAR AWARD NOMINATION FORM

    The STAR AWARD recognizes employees who have demonstrated consistent and exceptional service. Up to three categories of STAR AWARDS may be granted in a particular year: Administrative Support Staff, Environmental Services Staff and/or Professional Staff. Please indicate category on the nomination form.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • been a permanent employee of Student Affairs for at least two years,
    • demonstrated consistent and exceptional service to Student Affairs,
    • demonstrated a positive attitude toward students, staff and their work, and
    • demonstrated the willingness to go beyond the expectations of the job.
  • UNCP AMBASSADOR NOMINATION FORM

    The UNCP AMBASSADOR AWARD recognizes a Student Affairs employee (or group of employees) who has/have brought recognition to UNCP outside of the campus community while performing professional duties.
  • Criteria:

    Employee must have:
    • Represented UNC Pembroke in a manner that resulted in positive recognition to the University.
  • PARTNER OF DISTINCTION NOMINATION FORM

    The Student Affairs Partner of Distinction Award recognizes an individual or group outside of the Division of Student Affairs who has made outstanding and/or sustained contributions to a program, department, or the mission and vision of the division.
  • Criteria:

    Individual or group outside the division of student affairs:
    • Has demonstrated exceptional service to Student Affairs, and
    • Is an advocate for the welfare of all students.
