According to the National Library of Congress, “What started at the turn of the century as an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S., has resulted in a whole month being designated for that purpose.”
We are proud to honor American Indian heritage and culture 365 days of the year, but specifically during November, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of our American Indian families and friends.
Join the Office for Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), American Indian Studies (AIS), the Southeast American Indian Studies Program (SAIS), the Mary Livermore Library, and many other campus partners as we celebrate our American Indian friends, students, colleagues, and family. Check out the full calendar of curricular and co-curricular opportunities at American Indian Heritage Month.
